The emotionally charged colors I use in my florals and landscapes tell the world that I am a water colorist who simply loves color. That fleeting light that happens before evening appears in many of my backgrounds.
I also am intrigued by a close up perspective. This gives my florals the strength of form needed to support such powerful colors.
A Bachelor of Science degree in art education with a very classical art training explains the careful drawings with which I begin each painting. This is contrasted with free flowing background washes. I slowly build the color with many thin glazes, playing light against dark, warm against cool, until the painting sings my song.
